HISTORY
The FITS Techno Pinoy Center in Davao del Norte was established on October 30, 1997. It was funded by the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte through the Countryside Development Fund (CDF) of Former Sangguniang Panlalawigan Chairman on Committee on Agriculture/Board Member Rey T. Uy with a funding of Php450,000 and seed money of P183,000.00 from PCARRD. The FITS Center is being sustained by the Provincial Government through the PAGRO by providing regular annual budget.
Initially the bulk of information focused on durian as flagship commodity of Agri-Tropical Fruit Production “Plant Now Pay Later Program” of Davao del Norte. To date, information materials also focus on other high value commercial crops such as mango, banana, lanzones, rambutan, & mangosteen along with other sectoral concerns in Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources.
FITS Davao del Norte, is one of the recipients of the K-AgriNet Program wherein Php500,000.00 worth of modernized ICT equipment were given by PCARRD thereby benefiting all target clients primarily farmers in the province.
